AN INVESTIGATION INTO EXAMINATION MALPRACTICES AMONG STUDENTS IN TERTIARY INSTITUTION

ABSTRACT

The study investigated examination malpractices among students in tertiary institutions. The research is design to look into the various dimensions, causes and pattern of examination malpractices among students in tertiary institutions.

The sample consists of students in College of Education, Ikere Ekiti. The research makes sure that the selection reflected in each school in the college. However a random sampling technique was used to select the students. In all one hundred students (100) were involved, twenty (20) from each school of study of both male and female students was employed in the study. The research findings shows that 81% of respondents to items agreed that government officials, teachers/ lecturers are the greatest contributors to the spread of the Cankerworm that is eating deep into Nigeria educational system.

It is however, recommended that sound moral character and sense of civic responsibility should be inculcated mostly through leadership by example at all levels of the society and to all educational stake holders.
