ATTITUDE OF TEACHERS TOWARDS IMPROVISATION IN BIOLOGY

ABSTRACT

This study attempt to investigate the attitude of teachers towards improvisation in biology in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The population consists of the science teachers in the afore-stated are with 10 biology teachers as the sample. The sampling procedure employed was random sampling procedure. The data were collected through administration of questionnaires on biology teachers. The data collected were analyzed using the chi-square (x2). Out of five hypotheses, 3were accepted while 2 were rejected it was found that there is no significant differences in relationship between improvisation and factor such as mode o teaching, availability of equipment and school environment. However, the null hypothesis is rejected for student’s attitude and achievement. As a result of the finding of this study, it was recommended that provision of adequate laboratory equipment, motivation of the teacher employment equipment, motivation of the teacher employment of professional and committed teachers, organizing workshops and seminars regular monitoring of schools by specialists in science education to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of teachers which is presently regated in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
