ABSTRACT
This
project work is aimed at determining the impact of information technology on
the profitability and efficiency of banks in Nigeria with a preference to Zenith
Bank Plc.

research further identified the effect of information technology in the banking
industry, on the Nigeria
economy at large and proffers recommendations that can be made to forestall the
incidences of information technology in the Nigerian banking sector. In a bid
to have a fair knowledge and judgment, questionnaires were administered and
hypothesis were formed statistically tested using chi –square techniques.

summary of the findings reveals that the introduction of information technology
contributes to the overall achievement of the organization corporate objectives
and also has a positive effect on customers satisfaction.

Based
on the findings, it is concluded that the use of information technology gave
room for the use of information system strategy and policy formulation and
implementation which has great effect on employees. Some recommendations were
also made based on the researchers findings this includes;

attention should be paid to information system to detect and prevent occurrence
of financial malpractice (fraud and error) and

institution that offers banking courses such as Accounting, Banking and finance
